PureSpelt Baby Food Vegetable Puree

Preparation time: approx. 20 minutes

approx. 1 serving, from 5-7 months

100 g organic vegetables, e.g. carrots, pumpkin, zucchini or peas
approx. 200 ml water
10 g orange lentils
20 g PureSpelt wholegrain flakes (Flocken), or semolina (Griess)
1 tbsp cold-pressed rapeseed or flax oil

1

Depending on the vegetable, peel and slice into small pieces. Add to a pot with the water, lentils, and PureSpelt flakes, cover, and cook for about 10-15 minutes, or until soft.

2

Once the vegetables are soft, puree everything until smooth. Let cool to body temperature and then stir in the oil. Serve immediately.

Tips

You can also cook the puree in larger batches, let it cool and then store, covered, in the refrigerator. Once the puree has been warmed up from the fridge, it cannot be cooled and stored again.

You can portion and freeze the puree, letting it thaw in the fridge as needed.

Always add the oil just before serving—do not heat it.

You can substitute the lentils with 10 g of lean meat like chicken, veal, pork, lamb, beef, or fish (deboned), or cooked egg. The meat and fish can be cooked with the vegetables, the cooked egg can simply be added before pureeing.

Do not add any milk products during baby’s first year (e.g. milk, yogurt, quark, cheese etc.). The puree does not contain salt or other seasoning.

PureSpelt semolina (Griess) and PureSpelt flakes (Flocken) are available in mill shops, health food stores, some drugstores or in our Onlineshop.
